Villa Gris, South West Australia
Our original Concorde hangar lights flew to destinations worldwide. The top prize for most remote location goes to the Villa Gris. An impressive private residence/micro hotel built in the emptiness of south western Australia.
The building was conceived as a simple rectilinear bridge with the structure being grounded at each end. The first floor creates a 9m clear span beneath which the glass walls can slide effortlessly into the structure. It creates a wall-less room with panoramic views and a seamless connection with the outside.
A high level of environmentally sustainable functionality was an important consideration. Passive and active systems to effectively create a stand-alone, off-grid project were included in the brief.
We think that our Concorde pendant lights look pretty magnificent in this unlikely context.
We now remanufacture these lights to the same standard as the originals.
