Villa Gris, South West Australia
Our Concorde hangar lights, sadly no longer available, flew to destinations worldwide. The top prize for most remote location goes to the Villa Gris, an impressive private residence/micro hotel built in the emptiness of south western Australia.
The building was conceived as a simple rectilinear ‘bridge’ with the structure being grounded at each end. The first floor creates a 9m clear span beneath which the glass walls can slide effortlessly into the structure to create a wall-less room with panoramic views and a seamless connection with the outside.
A high level of environmentally sustainable functionality was an important consideration; therefore both passive and active systems to effectively create a stand-alone, off-grid project were included in the brief.
We just so happen to think that our Concorde pendant lights look pretty magnificent in this unlikely context.
