The New Working Way
There’s a quiet revolution taking place and it’s happening in the workplace.
As described in Morey Smith’s report ‘The Evolving Normal’ looking at the future of the workplace “61% of people miss socialising and half of workers want social spaces to return to the office. 57% of workers miss the collaboration in the office”.
Health + Happiness = Productivity
The workspace has been redefined, driven by the emerging realisation that environment and atmosphere directly affect health, happiness and productivity. The office (in whatever form) is now seen as a place of inspiration, it’s a destination, somewhere in which to be sociable, so it needs to be a space that is good to spend time in.
The way we work has changed and it’s for the better.
Co-working has been one of the cultural shift stories of the past decade, supercharged further by the Covid pandemic. Subsequently all things office, physical and digital, have followed suit and lighting is a particular focal point.
Office lighting has come a long way since the uninspired strip light starkness of previous decades and is now a crucial component of the workspace revolution. Whether it’s lighting for a home study, zoning for co-working hub or providing large series for the corporate office of the future, Trainspotters is happy to be playing a role in the reinvention of the office.
More than just a light
In practical terms, an effective workplace lighting scheme will use a mixture of lights, with larger spaces being zoned by pendant and wall lights to create meeting areas, break-outs, recreational and dining zones; and with an expanding Trainspotters product range, customers are able to inject personality into a scheme, creating a welcoming work environment that functions perfectly for every activity.
The technology-driven shift to flexible working has made the design of the shared workspace even more important, as employers and co-working space operators look to entice staff in with an inspiring environment, lighting is a key factor in creating a mood.
Form. Function.
With so many organisations now genuinely offering flexible working terms, lighting is switching from a 9 to 5 side-thought into a 24 hour consideration with factors such as bulbs, output, colour temperature, dimmability, smart technology interface and so on – it’s as much about functionality as it is about form.
As ideas of the workplace continue to develop and blossom, we look forward to developing our lighting range accordingly, committed to investing in research and development and making a contribution to the improvement in peoples’ work-life balance.
